The photo was taken in 2004, when I visited Zygmunt Bauman and his daughter, Irena Bauman, in Leeds, to do a double interview with them - the first interview, they had ever done together.

1WTC by German architect and author, Freidrich von Borries, and The Submission, by American journalist and author, Amy Waldman - both books have just been published (2011).
Læs det her:
Welcome to the English version of this post
In a few days it will be 10 years ago that a part of the world changed forever. When I write ‘a part of the world’ it is to underline, that the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon building in Washington DC truly did acquire a meaning on a global scale, but that it primarily was to (us) in the Western world, that it acquired the iconographic meaning, that will mark our sentiments for the coming weeks of commemoration.
As part of the global ‘looking back at the events of 9/11′ Byens Øjne will provide some input to the hopefully also informed reflections, that will take place during the coming weeks.
The first input is an interview on Dutch television with sociologist Zymunt Baumand, and his daughter, architect Irena Bauman, on the world after 9/11.
Watch and listen to the interview with Zygmunt Bauman and Irena Bauman from Dutch television, july 2011 (28:50 min) - the interview itself is in English, thus don’t despair when the program starts out in Dutch!
Over the coming weeks on our way towards the 10 years anniversary of the 9/11 events, I will among other things be reviewing two new books, that both take their cue from the 9/11 events but also share the fact, that architects play main roles in the novels – something which is truly a rare thing in literature. One is Amy Waldmans book The Submission, the other German author and architect, Friedrich von Borries new book, 1WTC.

1WTC by German architect and author, Freidrich von Borries, and The Submission, by American journalist and author, Amy Waldman - both books have just been published (2011).
My interview with Zygmunt Bauman and Irena Bauman, from 2004, also is on cities. Read it here:
